JD Hooge

Partner and Chief Creative Officer at Instrument

JD Hooge was an early pioneer on the web. He co-founded the design firm Fourm and type foundry Miniml, quickly earning a reputation for pushing technology and the Internet as a communications tool. In 2007, JD founded an interactive design studio, Gridplane. Starting in 2009, collaborations between Gridplane and Instrument produced interactive projects equally strong in design and technology. The two companies merged in 2011. As CCO, JD leads the creative team to produce digital products, branding and experiences. He was named one of Print Magazine’s “30 Under 30” New Visual Artists in 2005 and his work has been recognized by Communication Arts, i-D Magazine, Webby Awards and One Show Interactive, among others.
